Brenna Smith

Brenna Smith was a 2021-2022 Visual Investigations Fellow with the New York Times video team. In 2022, she was part of the team that won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on fatal traffic stops by police.

Prior to joining The Times, she worked as a news editor at UC Berkeley's The Daily Californian and as an open-source researcher with the Human Rights Center at Berkeley Law. She then went on to work in private research and moonlighted as a guest trainer and researcher with the investigative collective Bellingcat, specializing in disinformation and the illicit use of cryptocurrencies.
