Southampton have reached an agreement in principle with Peterborough United for the signing of central defender Ronnie Edwards.
A fee in the region of £3million plus add-ons and a sell-on clause have been agreed, and he is set to sign a four-year deal with an option of a further year to keep him at the club until 2028.

The club are just finalising details on the structure of the deal and Edwards is undergoing his medical today (July 2).
The Athletic reported in last week’s DealSheet Peterborough were engaged in negotiations with an unnamed Premier League club over the transfer of the Edwards and would not stand in his way if their valuation was met.
The 21-year-old England youth international has one year remaining on his Peterborough contract.
Barnet, who Edwards joined Peterborough from in 2020, are expected to be due 50 per cent of the profit from the transfer due to the sell-on clause inserted when they sold the defender.
Edwards has gone on to make 142 appearances for Peterborough during his four years at the club, including 55 last season.
Southampton are preparing for a return to the Premier League next season after securing promotion back to the top flight at the first time of asking via the play-offs last term.
The club have already completed the signings of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Charlie Taylor and Adam Lallana ahead of the 2024-25 campaign, while head coach Russell Martin has signed a new contract through to 2027.
