It’s all magical in Bideford

Bideford celebrates its carnival with a magical theme

Bideford’s annual Carnival and Massed Pipes and Drums took place on Saturday, 14 September, bringing magic and fantasy to life for locals and visitors alike.

Starting at 6pm, the carnival procession began at the Pill Car Park, winding through the town's streets before returning to the Quay, with this year’s theme drawing on whimsical and fantastical elements.

Following the colourful procession, the highly anticipated Massed Pipes and Drums performed at 7.45pm.

Up to 150 pipers and drummers marched along the historic Bideford Quay, playing traditional tunes, including the iconic Highland Cathedral.

The stirring performance was a highlight of the evening, attracting crowds who gathered to enjoy the community event.

Organised by the Bideford Carnival Committee, and supported by many local businesses, the event continued its tradition of bringing together the community.

The carnival’s vibrant atmosphere, complete with performers and musicians, made for an unforgettable evening of celebration.

Photos capturing the magical night were provided by local photographer Graham Hobbs.
