Ryan Reynolds has said the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine is the “best movie I’ve ever done”.
The film is set to be released worldwide on July 26, and was co-written by Reynolds, who reprises his role as the regenerative antihero, alongside Hugh Jackman as the mutant X-Men figure.
Deadpool & Wolverine will see both characters finally integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it serves as the latest entry in Phase Five of the saga, following on from November’s The Marvels.
Speaking to Sky News about the film, Reynolds conveyed his excitement about the project. “At the end of the day, I’m so happy with it. It’s the best movie I’ve ever done. He and I had the most fun we’ve ever had on a film,” he said.
“I love making movies that bring true joy, and the underpinning of this is friendship. Every emotional aspect of the movie, I love.”
With the film’s release now imminent, a recent trailer teased the return of an old X-Men foe to the franchise. In it, Wolverine can be seen shouting, “Who’s next?”, when Sabretooth, a longtime nemesis of the character, makes a surprise appearance.

The character, played by Tyler Mane, last appeared in the 2000 film X-Men, battling Wolverine in a snowy forest. See the trailer below:
It is expected that the film will see several other cameos and unexpected appearances, beyond Sabretooth. One heavily rumoured possible cameo was Taylor Swift, although the film’s director Shawn Levy moved to shut that down in a recent interview with EW.
Another that it appears can be ruled out is Josh Brolin, who recently spoke about his disappointment at not being involved, saying, “I so wanted to be in that movie”.
Jackman recently revealed that he accepted the role without telling his agent, saying that the film’s central concept – the two characters reuniting after the events of 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine – came to him “like a bolt of lightning” while he was driving.
