Regina Spektor speaks English, Russian and Hebrew. But the language that has carried her through every step of her long and winding road is music.

Born in Soviet-era Moscow, Spektor emigrated to the Bronx with her family at the age of 9 and lived in Fair Lawn during some of her high school years. Spektor was raised in a music-loving family and was initially devoted to classical music, but developed a new love for popular genres in the United States.
