Woody Harrelson Involved in Motorcycle Accident As Ted Danson Steps In

Woody Harrelson has shared how Ted Danson helped him out after a recent motorcycle accident.

The actors, who starred together on the 1980s sitcom Cheers, appeared on Monday's episode of the Conan O'Brien Needs A Friend podcast.

Harrelson explained he'd taken a "tumble" while riding his motorcycle to the studio.

"I think a tumble is a fair term," he told O'Brien and co-host Sona Movsesian. "I did go over my handlebars.

"I was honestly, and uh, embarrassingly, I was passing this Tesla on the left that I felt was moving a little slow, but didn't realize that he was moving slow because he was taking a left."

The 62-year-old said the motorcycle is his primary mode of transportation around Los Angeles. However, the incident with the car made him late for his interview with O'Brien.

"We lost some time while people were figuring out [if you're] alive, um, your soul had to re-enter your body," O'Brien joked.

"Did you think for a second, while you were going over the hood of the Tesla, 'this is going to be a huge problem?' Or were you thinking the whole time, 'I'm alright'?"

"I always thought I'd be OK," the True Detective star replied. "I just felt like there was some pain involved."

O'Brien then called attention to Harrelson's hand, which he described as "wrapped up like someone in a cartoon."

"I did it," Danson chimed in. "I thought it looked funnier that way."

"Let me get this straight," O'Brien said. "All of your first-aid training is helping people in a way that will look funny?"

"Yeah," the 76-year-old replied.

According to Harrelson, he bumped into Danson in the bathroom ahead of the show and asked him, "Didn't you play a doctor, right?"

"He says, 'Yeah, I also played a lawyer so we can sue the guy,'" Harrelson said.

"His confidence, his demeanor, everything about the way he does it makes you feel like 'yes, I'm in the best possible hands.'"

During the interview, the long-time friends discussed their time on Cheers, with Danson revealing that the cast used to poke fun at Harrelson behind the scenes.

Alongside Danson and Harrelson, the sitcom starred Shelley Long, Rhea Pearlman, Kelsey Grammer, Kirstie Alley, George Wendt, and John Ratzenberger.

The majority of the cast was in its 30s during the show's run and picked on young newcomer Harrelson, who was 24 at the time.

"Thirty-seven is when you realize you're no longer 25 or 24," Danson said. "So it was more not like hazing him, we just wanted to kick his a** in anything we could find.

"We started with basketball and as you later found out in life, he's a really good basketball player, so he kicked our a**** there."

Danson was referencing Harrelson's 1992 sports comedy movie White Men Can't Jump, in which the Oscar nominee played a former college basketball star who hassles competitors who assume he can't play because he is white.
