Jennifer Lopez Blasted by Megyn Kelly—'She's Failing'

Megyn Kelly has taken aim at Jennifer Lopez, accusing the star of "failing" professionally while weighing in on rumors her marriage to Ben Affleck is on the rocks.

Lopez, 54, and Affleck, 51, have been plagued with rumors of marital strife over the past several weeks, potentially bringing to an end one of Hollywood's most talk-about romances. The Gigli co-stars wed in Las Vegas in July 2022, some 20 years after they first started dating and 18 years after they called off their engagement.

While neither of the stars have publicly confirmed the speculation surrounding the state of their union, former Fox News host Kelly weighed in with scathing takes of her own as she suggested that Lopez was directing the public narrative.

On Wednesday's installment of her podcast, Kelly discussed images that recently emerged of Lopez appearing to take photos focused on her famous posterior as she spent time on a yacht in Italy without Affleck. The star was later pictured sitting in coach for a brief flight from Naples to France for Paris Fashion Week.

Playing on Lopez's early aughts hit "Jenny from the Block," Kelly's guest Maureen Callahan, author of Ask Not: The Kennedys and the Women They Destroyed, suggested the images are an attempt to make the star appear down-to-earth.

"She's just 'Jenny from the Block.' She's trying to be like us—not trying to unload a $60 million mansion and navigate a divorce while we all know she's like frantically trying to line up her next victim because she cannot be single for a single second," Callahan said. "We have to all participate in this delusion that Jenny's just this dewy little starlet and not a thrice-divorced mother of two."

Kelly further suggested that Lopez is behind recent unflattering headlines about Affleck, saying: "She was just fine with marrying him, but now that it's going south, he must be destroyed. We're seeing all the articles leaked about how he's mean, he's sourpussed, she's done all she can but he's just too unhappy and unlikable to save, so she's really got to move on now."

"She's trying to dump it all on the guy. She is taking no responsibility," Kelly opined of Lopez. "I'm sorry, I have zero respect for this person. I see what she's doing with the tabloid press, and America's too smart to fall for this."

Newsweek has contacted representatives of Lopez, Affleck, and Kelly via email for comment.

Elsewhere on her show, Kelly accused Lopez of rekindling her romance with Affleck as a means to distract from rumors that Alex Rodriguez had cheated on her.

"Within about two minutes she was back with Ben Affleck and completely changed the news narrative," Kelly said of Lopez. "I'm convinced she got back together with Ben Affleck to get rid of those [cheating] headlines; then she was forced to marry the guy; and, shock of all shocks, it's not working out, so now the PR campaign is back into gear."

The persistent rumors of marital turmoil come after Lopez's album, This Is Me... Now, was released in February. Debuting at No. 38 on the Billboard 200, it became Lopez's first studio album to miss the chart's top 20. A U.S. tour of the same name, which was scheduled to take place between June and August, was canceled last month so Lopez could "be with her children, family and close friends."

"Please know that I wouldn't do this if I didn't feel that it was absolutely necessary," Lopez said. "I promise I will make it up to you, and we will all be together again. I love you all so much. Until next time..."

Further criticizing Lopez, Kelly said on her show: "She's failing. She's failing in all of her professional lanes. The only weird way she's not failing is she's got a huge social media following, so she is reinventing herself as a Kardashian."
