Jared McCain was selected 16th overall in the first round of the 2024 NBA Draft out of Duke University.
Through the first few months of his rookie campaign, McCain earned the NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month honors for the Eastern Conference in October & November 2024. McCain became the seventh 76er to earn the honors and led the rookie class in points with 16.0 per game.
McCain spent one season with the Duke Blue Devils prior to joining the NBA and earned a 2023-24 ACC All-Rookie Team selection. McCain was also named an All-ACC Honorable mention after starting all 36 games. He averaged 14.3 points per game while shooting 41.4-percent on 5.8 attempts from beyond the arc, adding 5.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.1 steals.
A native of California, McCain set a Duke freshman record with eight made triples en route to a career-best 35-point performance against Florida State on Feb. 17. The 35-point effort matched Zion Williamson for the most points ever scored by a Blue Devils’ freshman.
Jared became the first Duke freshman to score 30-or-more points twice in a single NCAA Tournament and earned NCAA South Regional All-Tournament Team honors.
Prior to attending Duke, the 20 year old rookie was a 2022-23 McDonald’s All-American and earned a gold medal with USA Basketball at the 2022 U18 Americas Championship.
