Let me do my job – Professor Kwesi Aning seeks freedom to work after years of challenges under NPP

Security consultant and academic, Professor Kwesi Aning, has described the last eight years under the Akufo-Addo administration as a difficult period in his professional life.

Speaking during an interview on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey monitored by MyNewsGh, he revealed that his ability to freely express himself and perform his duties had been significantly hindered, leading to what he termed a period of “hell.”

Reflecting on his experiences, Professor Aning said, “My expectation is to be able to speak the way I’ve always spoken. Earlier on, I could speak and write, and I went to bed in peace.

“You know, nobody threatened to cut my salary, nobody threatened to call my former bosses to dismiss me.”

His remarks highlight the challenges faced by professionals working in politically sensitive environments, where their independence can often be at odds with the expectations of those in power.

Aning, a seasoned expert on security and governance, further elaborated on his hopes for a better working environment under the new John Dramani Mahama administration. “

“Give me the space to do my work, to help you, and to help the people of Ghana. I mean, it’s very straightforward,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professional autonomy to contribute meaningfully to national development.
