If it's working properly, then it's wired right. As to the foil, it was someone's attempt to silence the hum they thought they heard. Needed? Not really with hums. I would peal it away, and use shielding paint.

Kind of a mixed message here
Uhhh, yeah, but I just came back from Physical therapy, and my mind isn't quite right. I SHOULD have said, " If I thought it needed shieilding, I would use the paint." My bad.
Besides that foil that whoever used, looks like it could short out the pots.

I'd remove the foil too.

As for the wiring if you are happy with your pot tapers and all that, just change your pickups.

well i am going to test the pots out to see if there working fully , but just wondering is it normal for the pickups and wires to be soldered on top of the pot rather than the points on the pots , Don't know much about them

The outside of the vintage braided wires (the woven metal part) is the ground. The inside of those are soldered to the pot lugs because those are the hot wire part. And then you solder the metal casing on the outside to the top (or side) of the pot to ground it.

That's fine. A 500k pot with a 10% tolerance can be anywhere between 450k ohm and 550k ohm.

the guitar is a Epiphone joe perry boneyard , the pickups are Gibson Burstbucker , never really like the neck pick up sound that much the bridge pickup is what i like the most . heavy guitar , had it for nearly 20 years i think .
