Deux Frères plot

"Two infant tiger cubs, separated from their parents and each other."

In this live action film, two little tiger brothers are captured and separated from each other in the jungle of Cambodia. One tiger ends up in the circus and one becomes the pet of the governor's son. After years they see each other again, because they have to fight each other in an organized competition. After all these years, they recognize each other and they manage to escape together. With their bosses close behind, they flee into the jungle.

Nice family movie. An ode to the wild animal kingdom with beautiful images of Cambodia with its ruins of Buddhist temples, but especially the beautiful portrayal of the tigers. Truly very skilfully edited scenes of the tiger brothers in their natural and man-made behaviour.

A versatile director this Jean-Jacques Annaud and those who love this "Deux Frères" should certainly not miss out on "l'Ours " and the more recent "Le dernier Loup" to see.

In my enthusiasm I showed this film to an acquaintance a long time ago. He didn't like it,

and called it a Disney movie with a dirty face. I should have known better because he was

especially a lover of mafia movies. I thought it was a delightful video, the tiger by the way

my favorite animal numero uno and amazing how they managed it the

to 'act' both animals, with the reunion scene in the arena as far as I'm concerned a

one of the most moving animal films of all. The movie counts anyway

poignant scenes but also painful because it is simply about the exploitation of the

animals and which I think are hardly suitable for children and when especially in that regard the Disney film designation goes wrong. With a nice shot also with the sun rays through

the hole of one ear of one of the tigers so stands by me. Another goosebumps moment.

I have to adjust my voice from almost 15 years ago. The film recently came across my path again and I can understand why I fell for it at the time. The tigers are of course beautiful and the highlight of the film. Great to see these beautiful animals in their natural environment. Nor does it take any effort to empathize with them, because they have a hard time in the human world. And that's exactly where the problem lies: with the people.

The acting really can't count on my approval. Almost all characters are walking caricatures and therefore bloody irritating. That doesn't apply to Guy Pearce, by the way, but I found him very meaningless and dull. The tone also seems a bit off. On the one hand, the film is quite brutal at times, while at other times it seems clearly aimed at children. Hard to say and therefore the end result is a bit of neither fish nor meat.

No, the flowers on this movie obviously go to Kumal and Sangha!

3*
