All of Montenegro's natural wonders are linked by bike trails with carefully planned routes.
If you are a recreational outdoorsman, this is a challenging trail tailored for you
One of the most popular is the "Osmica" trail (meaning "eight") - a trail in the north of Montenegro that begins in the town Plav, passes by lake Plav, Mount Visitor, and the river Ljuča, before leading to Gusinje and returning to the starting point, all while resembling the number eight. The well-known biking race "Osmica" takes place here as well.
Learn about the history of charismatic villages, as well as the intriguing lives of the locals, and make sure to stop by a household to try honey, kaymak (similar to clotted cream), and plums.
Some of the cyclists' favorite routes!
If you're in Podgorica, the road from Podgorica to Virpazar is ideal. From Virpazar, take the old road up to Rijeka Crnojevića, passing through picturesque villages, then take the Cetinje highway back to Podgorica. It is a fantastic route with numerous gorgeous scenic views and a winding road that is exciting to ride! What if you want to go beyond Podgorica? Two favorites are the Durmitor ring and the route around the Bay of Kotor, with the finish on Njeguši!
Want a bigger challenge? Are you in good shape?
Then try the "Endless Landscapes" trail, which begins in Podgorica and goes through five municipalities: Danilovgrad, Šavnik, Plužine, Žabljak, and Kolašin. Montenegro also has four other national trails: "Slano i slatko,” which means “Salty and Sweet,” “Otkrića na sjeveru” meaning “Discoveries in the North, “Čarobni istok,” meaning "Magic East," and “Priče pokraj vode,” meaning "Stories by the Water."
