The tournament began with a crosstown battle between Minnesota Nice (#31 NA Northeast) and North Star Roller Derby’s Supernovas (#35 NA Northeast). Minnesota Nice entered the bout 2-0 against North Star since B-teams became included in the WFTDA rankings in 2023. That didn’t seem to matter to North Star, as Sassberry opened the bout with a quick 4-0 jam. Slim Sadie followed with a 4-0 jam of her own, but Wheelie Nelson then used a 7-0 jam to get Minnesota on the board and cut the North Star lead to 1 point. Read More
