Rubbish! Tom Aspinall latest UFC fighter to obliterate ‘bullsh*t’ pound-for-pound rankings — ‘Doesn’t make sense’

Who is the top pound-for-pound fighter in UFC?

It doesn’t matter, because the whole concept of pound-for-pound is rubbish and makes no sense. That’s according to interim heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, the latest fighter (behind this heavyweight rival) to smash the “bulls*t” rankings.

“What is this pound-for-pound bullshit?” Aspinall asked during UFC 304 media day (watch the replay here). “It’s a load of rubbish. It just doesn’t even make sense. Don’t get me started on that shit. It’s just like, how can you have a pound-for-pound [ranking]? What does that [mean]? Does that mean if everyone’s the same size?”

UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev currently holds the top spot.

“So how can you compare Demetrious Johnson’s style to Brock Lesnar’s style and say if they’re the same? Like, they’ve got completely different attributes,” Aspinall continued. “I’ve got a bulldog, right? It’s like saying if my bulldog had a really long neck, who would win [in a fight] a giraffe or the bulldog? It’s absolute bullshit. How can you even compare it? It’s a load of rubbish.”

Aspinall has an opportunity to climb the pound-for-pound rankings — even if they don’t make sense — with a victory over No. 4-ranked heavyweight bruiser Curtis Blaydes when they rematch in the UFC 304 pay-per-view (PPV) co-main event in Manchester.
