Former Cage Warriors bantamweight champion Nathaniel Wood made good on his Octagon debut earlier tonight (Fri., June 1, 2018) at UFC Fight Night 131 from inside Adirondack Bank Center in Utica, N.Y., by finishing veteran Brazilian Johnny Eduardo via second-round D’Arce choke.
It wasn’t entirely pretty for Wood in the early going. The young Englishman found it difficult to close the gap on the feet without Eduardo peppering him with hard shots and eventually busting his face up. Wood remained patient, though, and capitalized on a failed takedown attempt by Eduardo in the second round. “Prospect” worked for positioning and eventually locked his arms around the neck of Eduardo to claim the submission finish.

With this performance, Wood extends his current win streak to six, with five of those coming by finish in the first or second round. The promising bantamweight youngster has a lot of work to do if he wants to climb the 135-pound ladder in fashion, but more finishes like this one should help Wood stick out among the pack.
