Owen Coyle has talked top Irish prospect Kevin Long into joining him at Burnley, ahead of Everton and Celtic.
The Clarets are to pay Cork City a six-figure fee for the 19-year-old defender, who will join in January.
Coyle said: “We are delighted to have signed Kevin and beaten off stiff competition from north and south of the border.
“He is a young, aggressive, left-sided centre-back who is hungry to keep improving and will go straight into our first-team squad when he joins us."
