A 71-year old man hailed Wetherspoon's bargain prices after discovering one of the chain's boozers for the first time.
In hilarious footage shared to X (formerly TikTok), the "eccentric" elderly gent is seen relaxing in his back garden, expressing his delight and surprise at the low cost of his day out. The clip, shared by his daughter Morgan Alice, sees him label his trip as both "incredible" and "interesting".
She penned in the video's caption: "Eccentric old man discovers Wetherspoons and was waxing lyrical about findings, love him. The man then described his wife's endeavours: "She had a gin and tonic and then she had two large glasses of Pinot.
"What was my total bill? It's just unbelievable stuff." Speaking about the selection, he continued: "A range of beautiful ales, good food... and it was a theatre and cinema. So I just think it's incredible value for money, the buildings are interesting and as long as you go in at the right time it's fine."
After TikTok users were left in suspense due to Morgan Alice missing the part where her dad details his bill, one person asked in anticipation: "What was the total bill? I am on the edge of my seat!" Thankfully she cleared it up, responding: "£33 for both of their meals and drinks. I accidentally didn't film that bit as I was laughing too much."
And after listening to his description, one TikTok user was confident he knew which 'Spoons' branch the man was talking about. "He was definitely talking about the Wetherspoons in Colchester, Essex!" he said. "It’s an old theatre which turned into a cinema then bingo hall now called the Playhouse."
Describing a similar scenario, meanwhile, another person joked: "My middle class dad has also become a Wetherspoons evangelist, it’s so funny." It was the same situation for a second, who added: "My dad discovered Wetherspoons about 4 years ago now and we still have this conversation weekly."
It seems they're not the only ones with dads enjoying the guilty pleasure, as a third gushed: "My dad LOVES Wetherspoons. Goes for the refillable coffee which costs about £2 and spends all morning there reading the newspaper haha."
What's next for Morgan Alice's architect dad pondered others in the comments section. "Wait until he finds out you can post your table number and people will send you stuff," one user said. "Can you film him discovering Greggs next?" asked another in hope.
