William B. Schleeter OBITUARY

Long-time San Jose Resident, William B. Schleeter, passed away during the week of June 2, in his South San Jose home. He was 72 years old and in generally good health.”Bill,” as his friends called him, was born in Buffalo New York on February 26, 1952, the fourth son of Howard B. and Geraldine L. Schleeter. He came to California in 1959 after his father accepted a job offer from Lockheed Missiles and Space Company and relocated the entire family to Santa Clara Valley.Bill was an avid jogger, bicyclist, nature photographer and artist. In particular, he enjoyed taking and making computer-enhanced images of local mountains, forest and open spaces. He also made many autumn trips to the New England states to photograph the brightly colored hardwood forests for which the area is famous.His interest in gardening led him to plant a variety of vegetables and fruits in his back yard.Bill worked in public transportation for the Valley Transit Authority for about 40 years.Bill never lived presumptuous life. He worked for everything he had. He always believed that if he treated other people with kindness, sincerity and respect, that they would respond in kind.He is survived by his brother Howard Michael Schleeter, half brother Larry R. Schleeter, both of whom have lived in San Jose for many years; and his uncle DeVaughn Speicher and cousins Gary and Earl Speicher, and Rebeca VanEarsle of Grants Pass, Oregon.Friends and family members are invited to attend funeral services at Chapel of the Hills, 615 N.
