Ronald Anderson OBITUARY

Ronald Joseph Anderson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on June 14, 2024, at the age of 83, in San Jose, California. Born to Lillian Edwina Anderson and Edwin Parker Anderson on December 17, 1940, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Ron spent his early childhood in a close-knit family with his siblings, Eddie, Joann, and Norma, creating a tapestry of memories filled with laughter and camaraderie.

A graduate of Sequoia High School, Ron carried his passion for woodworking and entrepreneurship throughout his life. Known as a jack of all trades, he had a profound ability to build or fix just about anything. His career spanned various fields, including construction, woodworking, renovations, maintenance, and management. Ron was also a proud owner of several thoroughbred racehorses and businesses over the years, including Anderson’s Wooden Products and Jr’s Hotdogs, a Chicago-style deli in San Jose, California. Prior to retiring, Ron worked in the public sector as a Santa Clara County employee with the VTA.

In 1967, Ron married the love of his life, Sylvia Gibbons, in a ceremony that will remain a cherished memory. Together, they built a life, and became stronger together through all of the ups and downs, while enjoying the hustle and bustle of raising their two children, Shaina and Sholly. Ron’s legacy is also carried on by his adored grandchildren: Douglas, Matthew, Destiny, Alexandria, and Parker. Each of them will remember their grandfather for his witty sense of humor and his devotion, whether he was coaching them or cheering from the sidelines.Ron proudly served in the U.S. Army as part of the 101st Airborne Division (“Screaming Eagles”) and enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests throughout his lifetime, including drawing, creative writing, bowling, boxing, woodworking, football, golf, and horse racing. Ron’s generosity and willingness to give of himself is reflected in his family’s decision to donate his body to Science Care, allowing for medical research, surgical training, and educational programs that will benefit from his contribution.Predeceased by his parents and siblings, Ron’s memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife Sylvia, his children, his grandchildren, his great-granddaughter, and a host of others.

A celebration of Ronald’s life will be held on July 26 at 1:00 pm at the Three Flames Restaurant in San Jose, CA, located at 1547 Meridian Ave, San Jose, CA 95125.Ronald Anderson’s story is one of dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He will be deeply missed, but the seeds he planted in the hearts of those who knew him will continue to grow and flourish for generations to come.
