Patricia Annette Clemens OBITUARY

Patricia Annette (“Pat”) Clemens died June 26, 2024, at her home in Brentwood, CA. Daughter of Jeanette Wing Coleman and Ernest E. Coleman; loving wife of John K. “Jack” Clemens, who predeceased her in 2012.Born Nov. 11, 1932 in San Leandro, Pat grew up in the Bay Area, graduating from Oakland High. She attended SFSU, UC Berkeley, and UCSF Medical School, where she earned an advanced certificate in physical therapy. Her first career job was at Chandler Tripp School in San Jose.Pat’s dream of marrying and having a family began when she wed Jack in 1960. Her greatest joy was as a homemaker and in raising their four children. She became an expert advocate for highly intelligent, neurodiverse children, starting parent groups and becoming a political activist to support families across 23 schools in the Los Gatos Union School District. A pioneer in recognizing the impact of diet on learning, she collaborated with Norm Mineta to enact food labeling laws. Pat ensured the Clemens home was always beautiful and full of music. In 1992, she and Jack launched P&J Concerts to promote top-tier musicians. After 42 years in Los Gatos/Monte Sereno, they moved to Brentwood, sharing their love of music with their new friends and community. After Jack’s death, Pat continued producing concerts and performing in local choirs. Fiercely independent, creative, and sharp-witted, she managed her home until the end, always missing her beloved Jack.Pat is survived by her children, Nancy, Jeff, Sean and Michele; six grandchildren; and her brother Burt. We will always remember Pat’s joy of music, her great sense of humor, and her deep love of anything feline. We will miss her terribly.Celebration of Life: July 13, 11:30-2:30, 770 Centennial Way, Brentwood. Donations in lieu of flowers to Suncrest Hospice, 1777 Botelho Dr #240, Walnut Creek, CA 94596.
