Gene Gillis Goldberg OBITUARY

Gene was born to his loving Jewish parents David and Clara Goldberg in San Bernardino on July 13th, 1928. After high school he served in the Navy before attending San Jose State University where he played football and studied physical education. Gene’s passion for athletics ultimately led to him to become the Superintendent of Recreation for the cities of Los Gatos and Saratoga. He married his loving wife Mary in 1955, and the two raised 3 beautiful children, 3 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was an active member of the Los Gatos Lion’s Club and the biggest supporter of his family. Gene’s friends and family warmly remember him for his acceptance of everyone, his love of all sports, theater, and dining out. His favorite place was his cabin in Lake Tahoe where he enjoyed spending his summers. Gene passed on June 26th at the age of 95 surrounded by his family. Friends are invited to celebrate Gene’s life at a funeral service on Tuesday, July 2nd 4-6pm at the Darlene and Fischer Garden Chapel in San Jose and burial service on July 3rd at 10am at the Cemetery Gate of Heaven in Los Altos.
