Clint Simmont OBITUARY

Clint Phillips Simmont age 48 passed away in Boulder Creek, California on November 10th, 2023. Clint was born on January 18, 1975 in Prince George, Maryland to parents Gary Simmont and Kathleen Phillips. Clint was raised in Redondo Beach, California and attended Redondo Union High School, graduating class of ’93. Clint was a cabinet installer when he met and married his wife Stephanie on November 27th, 2002 in Torrance, California.Clint worked as a sprinkler fitter before he began a finish carpentry business, Bespoke Woodworks in Sacramento, California. In 2009 Clint became a police officer for the East Palo Alto police department. Clint worked for the East Palo Alto PD for 16 years. After just 3 years on, he was promoted and worked undercover for the San Mateo Narcotics Task Force. After 3 years with the task force, Clint was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. In the duration of his career, Clint made case law three times. He was also a certified Drug Recognition Expert. One of only 2,000 in North America. Clint cared deeply for the community he served, as well as the rank and file. He treated both with dignity and respect and lead by example. Clint was known for being honest, fair and kind.In his personal life, Clint was a devoted husband and father who had a strong moral compass. He believed in doing the right thing, even when no one was looking. He was fiercely loyal to those he loved and cared about. Anyone who knew Clint would tell you that he had an incredible sense of humor and would often have those around him in fits of laughter. Clint was extremely intelligent and as a teen, was affectionately called “The Professor” by friends.Clint loved living off grid in the Santa Cruz mountains. He was passionate about woodworking and anything he could build with his hands. Clint loved old school punk rock, tattoos, playing the guitar, hot rods and the blues. He would argue that his musical hero, blues musician John Lee Hooker was responsible for all modern music.Clint was preceded in death by his grandfather General Samual Phillips, grandmother Betta Ann Phillips, brother Samual Esposito and stepmother Linda Simmont. Clint is survived by his wife Stephanie of 21 years, and their 3 children Isabelle age 21, Myles age 18,and Ruby age 10. Parents Gary Simmont, Kathleen Phillips and Stepfather John Esposito. Clint is also survived by his sisters Marcy Ricroft, Nori Ferguson and husband Steven, nieces Kayla, Kira, nephew Tyler, sister Anna Simmont and stepson Marcus Kuhn. Private services have been held.
