BBC’s Showtrial Series 2 Trailer and Launch Date Announced

Showtrial Season 2

The BBC has announced that Showtrial, the five-part crime drama series, will be available on BBC iPlayer starting 6am on Sunday, 6 October, with episodes airing on BBC One at 9pm on Sunday nights. Created and written by Ben Richards, the latest series explores a gripping legal battle following the violent hit-and-run of climate activist Marcus Calderwood. His final moments suggest a serving police officer as his attacker, leading to a tense trial filled with cultural divisions.

The new season brings together a high profile cast including BAFTA-winner Adeel Akhtar, Michael Socha, Nathalie Armin, and Joe Dempsie. Once again the series examines the biases that arise in high-profile cases and questions whether a fair trial can be achieved amidst widespread public outrage.

Executive producers for the series include Simon Heath and Emma Luffingham, with direction from Julia Ford and production support from Northern Ireland Screen. The first series of Showtrial is currently available on BBC iPlayer.
