Dear Colleagues,
Amphiphilic polymers have attracted a steadily increasing attention over the past decades. This Special Issue “Amphiphilic Polymers” will focus on recent advances in this field and cover various aspects including synthesis, self-assembly, characterization, and applications in material sciences. Natural or synthetic amphiphilic copolymers have a hydrophobic part and a hydrophilic part. Block copolymers and many more complex architectures have been designed in recent years. Amphiphilic polymers have surfactant properties exploited in dispersion, emulsion, and mini-emulsion polymerization and for the compatibilization of blends of immiscible polymers. The self-assembly of amphiphilic polymers in solution and especially in water is widely studied to prepare micelles, particles, and vesicles. The self-assembly process can be implemented during polymerization by the Polymerization-Induced Self-Assembly (PISA) process. Self-assembled objects are widely used as micro- and nano-carriers for the controlled release of active compounds such as flavors and drugs. For drug delivery applications in the biomedical field, the functionalization of carriers is used for targeting purposes and for diagnosis in the frame of a theranostic approach.
The synthesis of new amphiphilic polymers, the development of new synthetic and formulation processes, the understanding of the surfactant properties, the mechanisms involved in the self-assembly process, and the development of new applications in various fields of material sciences will witness new developments in forthcoming years. Research and review articles focusing on the above-mentioned fields are welcome.

All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a single-blind peer-review process. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is an international peer-reviewed open access semimonthly journal published by MDPI.
