Authorities in Puerto Rico are investigating the case of Rolando Salas Jusino, a four-year-old boy who went missing in Toa Alta 25 years ago. Law enforcement suspects that he may be located in the northeast of the United States, according to Telemundo Puerto Rico.

The child was last seen playing in a park in the Urb. Colinas De Plata in Tao Alta at 4 p.m. on July 7, 1999, Telemundo Puerto Rico reported. He was last seen wearing a green T-shirt with dark shorts with black and white tennis shoes, according to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children.

Alexis Torres, the secretary of the Department of Public Security of Puerto Rico, and Laura Peña, the director of Interpol, are investigating a 29-year-old man living outside of Puerto Rico with similar characteristics to Jusino, Telemundo Puerto Rico reported.

Robert Ramos, the head of Puerto Rico’s criminal investigation body, stated to Telemundo New England that the person they believe to be Jusino resides in one of the states on the northeast coast of the United States.

This is the first time that the Puerto Rico police have found a specific location for a search area in Jusino’s case, Telemundo Puerto Rico reported. Past confidences suggested Jusino was dead and buried in a different location, or alive in the Dominican Republic, while others have claimed he was in the United States, according to the news outlet.

In January, authorities in Puerto Rico received information that there was a 29-year-old adult who had similar features to Jusino, Telemundo Puerto Rico reported. Officials are also looking for someone who has a similar birthmark as him.
