The College Football series of video games, by EA Sports, simulates American college football in a realistic gameplay with real college players and it comes in different editions offering different benefits so what are the variances, and which is right for you?

Initially released as Bill Walsh College Football in 1993, the series evolved into NCAA Football, running annually until 2013, offering an immersive experience of collegiate football.

The series was highly popular, known for its Dynasty and Road to Glory modes but due to licensing issues and controversies over player likenesses, the series was discontinued after NCAA Football 14.

However, EA Sports revived the series under the name EA Sports College Football in 2021 and announced the first release of the second era in summer 2023 and now the game is back to its popular self, offering an alternative to those frustrated with Madden.

The Standard Edition includes the game, priced at $69.99 on the PS Store and Xbox Store for digital copies, whilst anyone preordering can also pick up an Alma Mater Ultimate Team Pack, a Cover Athlete Ultimate Team Pack and a Return to Glory Ultimate Team Uniform Item.

If you are a competitive gamer who is seeking to be the best you can possibly be then the benefits are clear with the Deluxe Edition, offering bonuses for an extra price of $30.

Not only will you gain more time to learn the game, but you will also be handed some pretty sweet players and credit out of the gate to boost your team up and immediately begin to throw down a challenge to players worldwide.

But if you are interested in casually playing the game and you're not really that bothered about how well you do, or you're new to the series, then the Standard Edition is right for you. Save the $30, learn the game or have fun and switch it off when it's too frustrating.

What comes with the Deluxe Edition of College Football 25?

First out of the gate is an earlier release date giving you an extra three days to learn the game and gain an advantage over your friends. The Deluxe Edition releases on July 16 whilst those on the Standard Edition will need to wait until July 19.

For the price of $99.99, Deluxe Edition buyers will gain an extra three days of playing time as well as 4600 College Football Points, an Alma Mater Ultimate Team Pack a Cover Athlete Ultimate Team Pack and Bring Glory Home Ultimate Team Uniform Item.

Additionally, on the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, the College Football 25 Deluxe Edition offers a Heisman Hopeful Ultimate Team Pack (Choice of one player item).
