Dak Prescott has certainly made headline when he was seen wearing a walking boot in Mexico, prompting a flurry of discussion among sports analysts on whether this will impact his chances of landing a big payday.
Prescott has been wearing the boot for about a week, but he reassured everyone by saying that he is "great," explaining that his ankle swells up after deep diving.
Despite this, he hasn't secured a contract extension and it doesn't look likely in the near future. Chris Broussard of First Things First shared his thoughts on Prescott's situation with the Dallas Cowboys, giving his opinion on what lies ahead for the quarterback.
"I think it's nothing," said Broussard. "First of all, I don't know that he's getting paid anyway before season. So, I'm not thinking the Cowboys are like 'We're going to give Dak that $60 [million] a year.'
"I don't think that was happening. I think he's fine. I'd like to know how he did it. I'm guessing working out, but I'd like to know how he did it. But look, we saw him come back from a serious injury and they paid him. Yeah, so this is a little minor thing."
Uncertain future
In the 2020 season, he suffered a significant ankle injury in a game against the Giants, which sidelined him for the entire season. In March 2021, Prescott was given a four-year, $160 million contract despite playing only five games in 2020 on a franchise tag.
This year, the stakes are even higher. It's not just Prescott's final year with the Cowboys, but also CeeDee Lamb is in the last year of his contract and is seeking a significant raise, aiming for $35 million a year.
The future is uncertain for both Prescott and Lamb as they head into the season without contract extensions.
