Shakira's advisors communicated with the man, asking him to stop making these types of posts and clarifying the situation. Despite that, he continued to contact her and ramped up his efforts when he turned up at her home.
After the arrest and in the hearing that took place a couple of days later, Valtier continued with his story. Although the judge tried to make him come to his senses and explain his behavior, he stood his ground - leading him to a restraining order and bail of $100,000.
The judge stated: "The $50,000 is not enough to protect the community and in particular, this victim. I am going to increase the bail to $100,000 because I feel I have to with the stay away order.

Although Valtier lives in El Paso, Texas, more than 2,600 kilometers away from Miami, he made this journey to get to Shakira's home.
He also has a criminal record that landed him in jail in El Paso in 1988. In his record, there are charges for drugs, aggravated assault and driving under the influence of alcohol.
