Just a few months ago, we expected to have a winner between Mike Tyson (58) and Jake Paul (27) by now. The fight, originally scheduled for July 20, was delayed due to Tyson's medical concerns as he recovered from a recent ulcer flare-up. While the 30-year age difference seems to favor Paul, with his youth, athleticism, and a 10-1 record, it's hard to count out Tyson. With an impressive 50 wins out of 58 fights- 44 of those by knockout- Tyson remains a formidable opponent. After all, he's living legend Mike Tyson.

Mike big spender

Tyson's career, spanning two decades from 1985 to 2005, cemented his status as one of the greatest boxers of all time. Outside the ring, however, his personal life has been equally headline-worthy. Tyson has been married three times, including a brief and tumultuous marriage to American actress Robin Givens in 1988. Their relationship, marked by public drama and a highly controversial interview, ended in divorce the following year. During their short marriage, Tyson reportedly gifted Givens a 24-carat gold bathtub worth $2.2 million, a purchase that would later make headlines again.

The Bathtub
The bathtub

In 2013, this same bathtub was sold to billionaire Derwood Hodgegrass for $1.2 million, raising questions about its true ownership. Hodgegrass, seeing the bathtub as a rare and unique item, acquired it for nearly half of what Tyson originally paid. He noted the historical significance of such an extravagant possession, comparing it to famous bathtubs of the past. This purchase, while extravagant, is just one example of the kind of larger-than-life legacy that Tyson continues to leave behind, both in and out of the ring. I mean, everyone can spend their money on whatever they want but a bath tub at that price just shows what a big spender Tyson was back in the day.

Up next Tyson vs Paul

The anticipation continues to build as fans eagerly await what could be one of the most intriguing matchups in recent history mainly because of the age difference, 30 years, but knowing that Tyson is a boxing legend and that Paul has done a good job in his brief and invented career. As the fight date approaches, November 15, it's clear that Paul will need more than just physical preparation. Understanding and respecting the experience Tyson brings could be crucial for Paul's strategy. The upcoming battle isn't just about strength and youth -it's also about who can outsmart the other in a high-stakes contest.
