A fight that took place in the octagon of the UFC and MMA five years ago will see a rematch take place in a boxing ring.
Nate Diaz and Jorge Masvidal face off this Saturday at the Honda Center, in Anaheim, California. they will fight for 10 rounds in the 175-pound category in a boxing event that has a lot at stake, especially the pride of both fighters.
Five years ago in 2019, Masvidal defeated Diaz in three rounds in the UFC in a controversial fight. The referee did not allow Diaz to come out to the octagon, after he was almost knocked out on two previous occasions by Masvidal, and was not allowed to come out for the fourth round.
Trading the octagon for the ring
Both left the UFC and now they will have a new confrontation, but in a ring, which has attracted a lot of attention.
"Nate is a living dead man," Masvidal said. "I can't wait to prove that last time wasn't a fluke. He was saved by the referee. Now we're boxing, which he says is his forte, but he has no chance of beating me.
"I'm not going to give him an inch in that ring to even breathe. If I thought our MMA fight was bad, this is going to be a lot worse," added the American of Peruvian and Quabana descent.
