Ryan Garcia, the former interim WBC lightweight titleholder, has been expelled from the World Boxing Council (WBC) following a series of inflammatory and racist comments made on social media.

This decision comes amid a turbulent period for Garcia, who has been mired in controversy over the past several months.

Garcia goes after Muslims in shocking rant

Garcia's recent boxing troubles began when he received a one-year suspension for an anti-doping violation, which also led to the overturning of his April victory over Devin Haney.

In a X Spaces session, Garcia made derogatory remarks about Muslims, stating, "Fck you and fck Muslims that r**e little kids. Bro, fck all you motherfckers. You guys are weird as fck. Fck all you Muslim ass weird ass f*ckers."

When confronted about his comments, Garcia retorted, "Guess what? I will never be touched because I'm a god."

These comments came shortly after a conversation with Sneako, a streamer who converted to Islam last year and had been discussing his faith during the session.

In response to Garcia's remarks, WBC PresidentMauricio Sulaiman issued a statement on X, announcing Garcia's expulsion.

"Exercising my authority ... I am hereby expelling Ryan Garcia from any activity with our organization," Sulaiman wrote.

"We reject any form of discrimination."

Garcia later posted an apology on X, claiming, "I was trolling I want all the killing to stop. I love everyone sorry if I offended you."

Garcia's family distance themselves from boxer

This expulsion is the latest in a series of troubling incidents involving Garcia.

In June, he was arrested for allegedly causing $15,000 worth of damage at a Beverly Hills hotel.

His attorney cited his mother's health issues as a contributing factor to his behavior.

Garcia's family also released a statement distancing themselves from his prejudiced remarks.

"Our family unequivocally does not support any statements [Garcia] has made regarding race or religion - these do not reflect who Ryan truly is and how he was raised," the statement read.

"Those who know Ryan can attest to this fact. Ryan has been open about his ongoing struggle with mental health over the years and as a family we are committed to ensuring and encouraging that he receives the necessary help to navigate this very challenging time and address both his immediate and long-term well-being."

As Garcia grapples with these controversies and his suspension, his future in boxing remains uncertain.

With his return to the ring delayed until at least April 2025, the focus now shifts to his personal and mental health challenges.
