The president of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mauricio Sulaiman, spoke exclusively to MARCA USA about his decision to suspend Ryan Garcia from any WBC activity after a new rant on social networks where the boxer uttered multiple racist insults.

Ryan Garcia felt harassed by a woman

Sulaiman himself mentioned to MARCA USA that at the WBC they have tried by all means to help Ryan Garcia and urge him to go to rehab, and he has even spoken to him recently, but his advice has fallen on 'deaf ears', as he comments.

"This is an urgent call to his family, who can legally make decisions and take actions to prevent a tragedy. Since a month before the fight with Haney we asked for a mental evaluation; he was supposed to show up in Phoenix and didn't go, then he didn't receive the doctor who was going to evaluate him; I spoke with him in Las Vegas on June 15, subsequently I spoke with one of the people who is with him and he has simply declined any proposal of care that we have offered."

What will happen with Ryan Garcia?

Sulaiman made it clear that the WBC door is open for Ryan Garcia, as long as he agrees to receive help, since the WBC president has made it clear that the boxer is struggling with substance abuse issues such as alcohol and other mental health issues.

The WBC president also mentioned that he is willing to help the fighter in whatever is required and that at the moment, he is not sure if other international boxing governing bodies such as the IBF or the WBO will follow the precedent set by them.
