The long-awaited rematch between Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall is set to take place on May 25, marking the culmination of a two-year build-up filled with anticipation and controversy.

Initially scheduled for April 27, the bout was postponed due to an injury sustained by Taylor. Despite no titles being at stake this time, the fight promises high stakes as both boxers seek to reclaim their standing in the sport.

Josh Taylor, a gold medalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, turned professional in 2015 and quickly rose through the ranks.

In 2021, he defeated Jose Ramirez to unify the WBC and WBO titles, becoming the undisputed super lightweight champion. However, his contentious split decision victory over Jack Catterall in 2022 left many believing Catterall deserved the win.

The rematch faced multiple delays due to Taylor's injury, leading to him being stripped of his titles before losing the WBO belt to Teofimo Lopez. Now, without titles on the line, both fighters are eager to prove themselves once more.

"I have never run away from anyone in my life, especially Jack Catterall," said Taylor. "He has spent the last two years going from promoter to promoter while living off my name.

"Jack better be careful what he wishes for because he's in for a hard hit this weekend. I'm going to enjoy every second of it. See you soon, Jack."
