After a difficult start to life in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark is finally beginning to show the ability which marked her as possibly the greatest talent to ever be drafted into the league.
Since being selected into the WNBA all-star team, getting over her bizarre omission from the United States Olympic basketball squad, Clark has started to hit threes for fun and make successful passes to her teammates.
This run of exceptional form culminated in the first triple-double of her professional career, and in doing so, becoming the first WNBA rookie to achieve such a feat.
She shared a series of photos on her Instagram, captioning them with her excitement about the achievement and its impact on her chances for the league's Rookie of the Year award.
How did the triple-double play out?
This milestone came during an exhilarating 83-78 upset victory over the league-leading Liberty at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Clark's performance included 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds. Her Instagram posts featured joyful moments from postgame press coverage and action shots from the game.
Additionally, she posted images signing jerseys, basketballs, posters, and interacting with young fans, who expressed their enchantment meeting her.
Last week, Clark narrowly missed achieving a triple-double, falling short by just one rebound in a game against the Mercury. However, she secured it during the fourth quarter of Saturday's game against the Liberty, which in a way shows the consistency she craved early on in her rookie WNBA season.
Reflecting on her achievement, Clark credited her teammates for their role in her impressive assist numbers, acknowledging their high finishing rate. Beyond the record-breaking performance, she emphasized the enjoyment of defeating the league's top team and bolstering the Fever's playoff prospects.
"You don't get that without your teammates finishing baskets for you," Clark explained in her post-match media interview.
"It's pretty cool."
