The long-awaited, much anticipated Stage 1 Shortlist for the Worldwide Architecture & Engineering Design Services IDIQ is now live on sam.gov! A multidisciplinary technical advisory panel read, analyzed, and deliberated extensively to develop the list of finalists. OBO will conduct interviews in the coming months to select down to a final list of the most highly qualified firms who will progress to the Stage 3. This final stage of the IDIQ recompete process will include a formal solicitation with price proposal instructions. At the end of successful negotiations, the most highly qualified firms pending any facility clearance will receive an IDIQ contract award to perform a wide range of design services for U.S. diplomatic facilities worldwide. Over the past few years, OBO has conducted multiple small business roundtable events, released a sources sought Request For Proposal (RFP) to understand the breadth of capable small businesses, and conducted hundreds of capabilities conversations with firms to give them a broader understanding of OBO and for OBO to assist by reviewing their work and pointing out what elements of their capabilities resonate with OBO’s mission. These efforts resulted in 15 of the 30 firms who qualified for Stage 2 being registered small businesses. For questions, please reach out to [email protected]. OBO's Chief Data and AI Officer Alyssa Lapan won a Leading for Impact award at Forum's Women in Leadership Conference! We are fortunate to see her daily impact on the U.S. Department of State's modernization efforts. Driving innovation across a large government bureau is not an easy task. Over the past two years, OBO has made significant strides in modernizing the way we work through the better use of data. Alyssa has worked to implement a data and analytics organizational model tailored to OBO's project lifecycle. She has also overseen an investment in Kahua, a cloud-based construction project management system that provides information sharing and document control for real-time collaboration. Alyssa has placed “Data Stewards” throughout OBO to drive the uptake of new data practices and platforms, solicit user feedback, and steward change at OBO. Congratulations, Alyssa! OBO is lucky to have you.

U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations reposted this
At the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand, a joint team of DSS and U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Overseas Buildings Operations security professionals completed a long-overdue project to make the embassy's four main doors American Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant. Our diverse team of American, Australian, Filipino, and Thai employees pulled long hours over a holiday weekend to update door hinges, install hydraulic hardware, and re-wire power systems. With each door weighing over 600lbs, the project required a significant amount of planning and expertise to ensure the new accessibility features properly interacted with existing security systems. The updates were an important initiative to Ambassador Robert Godec, who joined the embassy’s #DEIA Group for a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the successful completion of the project. The new accessibility features make the embassy more welcoming by giving all staff and visitors the ability to move through the embassy without assistance. So, while it may look like just a small blue button with a wheelchair, our DSS technical security teams know that these upgrades make a world of difference in improving accessibility while maintaining security at America’s diplomatic facilities overseas.
