🌐 October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! 🔐 As AI reshapes how we live and work, staying vigilant is more important than ever. As technology evolves, so do the threats we face. Here are some tips to stay safe online: 1️⃣ Beware of phishing emails - If an email seems weird, be careful, check who’s sent it and if their email matches who they say they are. 2️⃣ Use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Get an extra layer of defense against hackers when you log in with MFA. 3️⃣ Keep your software up-to-date, don't use the same password everywhere! The longer, the better, and passphrases can help. 4️⃣ Stay smart, stay safe on social media! Sharing personal information, like your full birthday, home address, or your location, can be used for identity theft or bullying. 5️⃣ Shields up – use secure Wi-Fi. Remember that public networks are unsecured. 6️⃣ Be aware of AI-driven scams. Cybercriminals can use advanced AI to create realistic images, text, voice, and video. Stay vigilant and double-check (e.g., verify the source, look for AI red flags and “artifacts” like urgent language, unnatural voices, or slightly distorted images, etc.) before you trust any unexpected communication. Stay tuned for valuable insights, tips, and resources we'll be sharing throughout October to help you safeguard your digital life.🚨 🔒 Let’s work together to keep our digital spaces safe and secure! #CybersecurityAwareness #StayVigilant #AI #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth #DIIT #NYCSchoolsTech #NYCPublicSchools #StaySafeOnline

Throughout the summer, the interns had the chance to meet with members of the DIIT team in a series of Intern Events, covering topics such as ‘Career Finance’ and ‘Discovering Your Career Pathway.’ The experience culminated in an insightful session with DIIT's CIO, Intekhab Shakil, who shared insights from his career in IT. 🌟 Continuing our "Team Showcase" series, we're thrilled to highlight Tiffany Richardson, M.S. HRM our Senior Director of Organizational Strategy, Human Resources & Talent, who has been with DIIT for 2 years. 🌟 Tiffany's journey through HR has been driven by a commitment to representation and advocacy. But it hasn't always been easy. Years ago, when she was feeling deflated, tired from a workplace without diversity, a former colleague and friend said to her: "Look in the mirror....Folks will try to disrespect you for being a woman or being black....Now look in the mirror again. Whatever is looking back at you will be someone else's reason for hope." This conversation inspired Tiffany to stand up for folks like her, who were tired of being unrepresented. "Whether people needed to see me because of my gender, race, ethnicity, age, values... it all mattered," she said. "I've connected with so many people over the course of my career because they saw themselves in me one way or another.” It's an approach that makes her a more effective human resources leader, and well suited to DIIT. She says HR, like information technology, "has to evolve to be most useful. Upholding outdated practices that don't serve the true needs of the organization and its people is a disservice." 💡🔄 Join us in celebrating Tiffany Richardson’s incredible journey and her contributions to DIIT. 🚀👩💼 #TeamShowcase #DIIT #HumanResources #InnovationLeadership #RepresentationMatters #NYCPublicSchools #NYCSchoolsTech #EducationTechnology
