Thank you to Felix Clary of Tulsa World Media Company for his in-depth story building off our recent case study with Wells Fargo about possible paths to increasing Native American representation in financial service-related fields. BOK Financial operations manager Kelsey Parks, whom Clary interviewed for his story, says that her organization's "goal of working with tribal communities is to build generational wealth for Native families." That's a mission we at Aspen FSP whole-heartedly support, and we hope that the case study helps other organizations consider how economic sovereignty ultimately enables tribal sovereignty. 👉 Read the original case study: https://lnkd.in/ez-euRSk 👉 Read the Tulsa World article (subscription): https://lnkd.in/eMc9n7hK

Textbook example of localizing news in a meaningful way: Felix Clary of the Tulsa World Media Company took the recent The Aspen Institute case study about the dearth of Native Americans employed in financial services and interviewed Kelsey Parks, a Chickasaw citizen who is an operations manager for BOK Financial in Tulsa, who told him about the big role her mentors from the Sovereignty Center at Oklahoma State University played in helping her identify financial services as a means to her career goals. Kelsey told Felix: "While I didn't start on my career path with banking in mind, my entrepreneurship degree helped me realize I wanted to focus on helping businesses develop and continue to grow." Kelsey views banking as a tool in creating individual sovereignty for Native people and a form of economic sovereignty for tribal entities. Dawson Her Many Horses, managing director and head of Native American Banking for Wells Fargo Commercial Banking Diverse Segments also spoke with Felix for the Tulsa World story.
