We’re excited to attend the upcoming Sports Tech Research Network (STRN) summit in Belgium! Rimkus Special Consultant Jessica Zendler, Ph.D., and Associate Consultant Rachel Hybart, Ph.D., will be in attendance. Dr. Zendler will be speaking as part of two panels at the summit: “Co-creation session 1: Priorities for future research & innovation on player health and wellbeing” and “Co-creation session 8: Priorities for advancing health and performance in basketball.” Dr. Zendler has also collaborated with other #STRN members to publish a white paper establishing an international consensus framework for evaluating the value, usability, and quality of sports technology. We’re attending this week’s American Society of Biomechanics conference! On August 7th, Rimkus Senior Vice President Charles Burhans, M.S.E., will be presenting #SportsScience research conducted by Rimkus experts: “Assessing Risk Factors for Ankle and Knee Injury: Comparison of Basketball Court Slip-Resistance Measurements from Common Slip Meters.” Rachel Hybart, Brian Grieser, Rose Figueroa, PhD, CHFP, and Jessica Zendler, members of the Rimkus #LifeSciences team, collaborated to perform research and author this paper. They studied two common methods of measuring surface friction on a hardwood basketball court in order to determine whether those methods provided comparable results, and also to develop a more standardized process for assessing surface friction on a playing field. The #ASB2024 conference is in Madison, Wisconsin, and began on August 5th and will run through the 8th.
