What makes a good #lidar system? I recently did a presentation on that at the 2024 #AEPDroneDay. We can always dig deep into the physics, math, and engineering. But by looking at the ("#NOToptimized") data, we can see quit a bit, if you know where and what to look for. These were comp data from 6 separate flights done by team WISPR Systems to investigate the system #accuracy and the ability to capture #groundpoints under dense #vegetation of two #RESEPI configurations (#XT32 vs #M2X), across 50m, 100m, and 150m #AGL, at 8m/s #Speed and max. 45degree #ScanningAngle. You get an fairly good idea how far you can push these #RESEPI systems. Also worth noting is that #PointClouds from 6 flights, independently processed (#PCMasterPro->#Lidar360) without any additional "#optimization," such as #NoiseRemoval, #Smoothing, #StripAlignment, or #AdjustToControl, had excellent #alignment, #betweenSwath, #withinSwatch, as well #BetweenFlights. New 1.10.0.0 PCMasterProGL Software Updates! • Improved colorization methods with “no colorization by proximity to starting point” (3D vector) rather than height away from the point being painted. It improves the effectiveness of removing photos that are not helpful from being used and increases the processing speed of colorization. • Automatic vignetting values are assigned in the project based on information about the camera read from data files. • Significant improvements to colorization quality. Fixed vignetting with vignette removal in images projected in exported point clouds. • Added ability to select the differential GNSS solution frequency used for TC trajectory processing or if automatic selection is desired (Alpha). It improves automated reliability and improves accuracy for datasets with non-optimal GNSS quality. • Fixed crash with language selection when no project was loaded. • Added ability to color points by return ID in the GUI visualizer. • Improvements for colorization quality by fixing colorization to “optimize image overlap.” • Updated blur method as an additional option to improve colorization. • Significant improvement to memory usage on the computer while exporting point cloud. The software will only store one color per point (point cloud point) if no blending is used in the export window. • Fixed bug of merging las with external lasmerge. • Bug fix for reading in base station antenna height from the index file in the pre-processing window.
