  • We’ve been speaking to community groups, neighbours, parishioners, businesses, students, regulators, and industry representatives, to gather input on the concept design and functionality of the new Acute Hospital. The feedback received ensures our plans align with the needs and expectations of Islanders – where this does not compromise clinical functionality or safety. The public consultation closes at midnight in two days time, Tuesday 4 June. Share your thoughts on the concept designs in the online survey at: gov.je/NHFP

  • Programme Clinical Design Lead, Robert Etchell, talks about how the shape of the new Acute Hospital has been designed with clinical function at the forefront while also considering the site’s surroundings, ensuring the larger mass of the hospital is designed away from residential areas. The hospital will be stepped over five floors, with a smaller top floor to house some of the hospital’s central plant areas. Great care has been taken to maximise patient views, balanced against the impact the associated hospital height will have from a distance. Islanders are reminded to submit their comments by completing the survey before midnight on Tuesday 4 June: gov.je/NHFP

  • Programme Transport Lead, Alex Welch, talks about transport and connectivity to and from the new Acute Hospital. Some upgrade works to Westmount Road which will be necessary to improve safety for road users by increasing carriageway and footway widths. A hazard warning signal is proposed the hairpin bend at Westmount Road which enables the retention of two-way movement of vehicles on the road. Islanders are reminded to submit their thoughts by completing the survey before midnight on Tuesday 4 June: gov.je/NHFP

  • The views from the hospital and the in-patient rooms support the recovery of patients benefiting from the site’s altitude of 60 metres above sea level. If you weren’t able to come along to one of our events and try on the VR headset to see the inside of an in-patient room, you can still see the concept designs and proposals in the virtual exhibition space at: nhfp.gov.je

  • Interim Chief Nurse, Jessie Marshall, talks about how the new Acute Hospital has been thoughtfully designed to benefit patient care and recovery. Departments in the Acute Hospital will be located to optimise the flow and circulation of patients. It will prioritise privacy and dignity for patients by supporting a separation of flows within buildings so patient and visitor routes are not shared. Islanders are reminded to submit their thoughts by completing the survey, before midnight on Tuesday 4 June: gov.je/NHFP
