About us

Cleveland State University's Monte Ahuja College of Business Accounting Programs are among a select group of only 182 accounting programs that hold Accounting Accreditation from AACSB International—the hallmark of management education. Our diverse program offerings include undergraduate, graduate, and certificate opportunities that are well-suited for a wide range of domestic and international students. In addition to classes, major and minor students will also benefit from a plethora of local, national, and international connections through numerous job fair events and local internship placement, which often lead to full time work offers upon graduation. Our student organization, Beta Alpha Psi, is a National Honor Society over 100 years old focusing on Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems fields. BAP works to provide employment, leadership, and volunteer opportunities for its student members. Students in BAP aid the department in organizing valuable events on campus, such as Meet the Accountants Night, where students can speak directly to over 50 local companies seeking employees, and the Annual Awards Banquet, where students can apply and receive scholarships. Cleveland State University is located within walking distance of Cleveland downtown business & entertainment centers and has strong ties with the business and public sectors in Northeast Ohio. Cleveland and the Northeast Ohio region feature vibrant neighborhoods, reasonable housing prices, and an internationally renowned orchestra, the largest performing arts district outside of New York, major-league sports teams and world-class health care organizations.

  • This past Friday February 23rd here at CSU we hosted the 2024 Ethics Competition!! The IECC - Intercollegiate Ethics Case Competition is sponsored by the Northeast Ohio Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors and was hosted by our department on-campus at the Monte Ahuja College of Business. Student teams from each participating university are presented with an ethical dilemma case (written this year by Dr. Craig Foltin, CSU accounting faculty member) that they are required to analyze and address through a written report and an oral presentation to a set of judges. This year's case was related to Auditor Independence and Fraud Detection responsibilities. The team from the University of Akron won 1st place, while our CSU team finished 2nd! (Our CSU team was comprised of Grace Houser, Steven Loos, and Rishiram Singh guided by faculty advisor Rich Molina). We had several esteemed judges from the accounting world, including professionals from EY, Cohen and Co, Parker Hannifin, the IIA, and PwC. Other universities participating were Heidelberg, Kent State, and Tiffin. Cash prizes were awarded to all participating teams (supported by the IIA). To conclude the event, special guest Paul Munter, the current Chief Accountant of the SEC, provided live remarks to the attendees via Zoom. Thank you to Rich Molina and all the BAP member volunteers who helped this event run smoothly! Our CSU student team members all presented admirably while earning 2nd place in the competition. Judges specifically stated that Grace Houser had the "smoothest transitions and best presentation tone" among all presenting teams. Way to go Grace! 👏 👏   #csuaccounting #CLEstate #clevelandstate 💚 💚

  • Hi everyone‼️ We are bringing back #FacultyFriday this semester, and starting off the semester strong with our first #FacultyFriday shoutout: introducing Dr. Weishi Jia!👏🏻 👏🏻 Dr. Jia has been working at CSU since 2017 and we are so lucky to have her! She currently teaches Introductory Accounting and Accounting Analytics for CSU. Dr. Jia received her undergraduate degree from the University of Hong Kong and then went on to get a PhD from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She also has two amazing young kids who are 2 & 4.❤️ She loves to spend time with her kids outside of work and enjoys taking them to the zoo and different museums! She also likes to travel and tries to travel to China at least once a year in the summer to see family. She cannot wait to be able to start traveling with her kids more as they get older! Dr. Jia’s favorite thing about working at CSU is by far the students. She loves how rewarding it is to help and teach those students who work so hard inside and outside the classroom for their education. She also loves working with and getting to know her great colleagues during her time at CSU thus far. Thank you, Dr. Jia, for all you do for our CSU Accounting department and all the students you have helped along the way! Comment any questions you may have for Dr. Jia!! 💚 💚 💚 #FacultyFriday #CLEstate #csuaccounting
