We are thrilled to announce the installation of stunning new equine art in our Veterinary, Education and Technology Building, created by the exceptionally talented Jamie Corum. Jamie is renowned in the art world for her breathtaking depictions of horses, capturing their grace, strength, and spirit and her latest pieces are no exception. These artworks not only beautify our space but also serve as a reminder of the majestic animals we dedicate our work to. Collectors of Jamie's work span across the US, Canada, and the UK with print sales reaching further into the international market.  Works by Jaime Corum first arrived in the Keeneland Sporting Arts Auction in 2018 and continue to exhibit at the most prestigious sporting art galleries.  Her works were featured in multiple publications and programs, including Keeneland Magazine and Equestrian Living. #equineart #equinemedicine #lmuvetmed #lmucvm #movingvetmedforward

This week we were thrilled to welcome the Class of 2028 Blue to our veterinary school community! As our newest cohort of future veterinarians, they bring fresh perspectives, boundless enthusiasm, and a shared passion for animal health and welfare. Starting this journey marks the beginning of an incredible adventure filled with rigorous learning, hands-on experiences, and lifelong friendships. Here are some tips for those starting their incredible vet school journey: ☑ Stay Organized: Keep track of your class schedule, assignments, and important dates. A planner or digital calendar can be a lifesaver. ☑ Ask Questions: Don’t hesitate to ask your professors and peers for help. Veterinary medicine is a collaborative field, and learning from others is key. ☑Get Involved: Join student organizations, attend workshops, and participate in extracurricular activities. These experiences can enrich your education and help you build a network. ☑Take Care of Yourself: Veterinary school can be demanding. Make sure to prioritize your well-being by getting enough sleep, eating well, and taking breaks when needed. ☑Stay Curious: Veterinary medicine is constantly evolving. Looking to make a difference in the world of higher education? If so, we may be looking for you! We're looking for a Director of Instructional and Curricular Innovation to evaluate and provide recommendations to improve curriculum, teaching methods, and assessment at LMU-CVM. The DICI is also responsible for directing the Masters in Veterinary Education (MVEd) program, to include managing and administering curriculum, gathering and reporting program outcomes, maintaining program information in the LMU graduate catalog, and working with admissions staff to recruit new students. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty and administrators to evaluate educational programs and initiatives, and will support and assist CVM faculty in preparing educational materials, integrating technology into the classroom, and instituting novel teaching and assessment practices. The LMU-CVM recently held our 2024 Pre-Clinical Awards Day Ceremony. We had a wonderful evening celebrating the hard work and dedication of our students, faculty, and staff, as well as community and affiliate awards.

We recently headed north with some of our first year veterinary students to experience Lexington Day! Our first stop was the University of Kentucky Maxwell H. Gluck Equine Research Center where our students learned about research projects and opportunities available to them. Through these various research projects, students are able to receive a $5,000 stipend for completing research during the summer. We continued our day with a visit to Spendthrift Farm and Spy Coast Farm where students enjoyed behind the scenes tours and experienced an up close look at the equine breeding and rehabilitation industry.
