We are seeking a student looking to expand their knowledge, network, gain experience, and professionally grow. This is a training level class involving high school juniors and seniors working on completion of a diploma, college, or university students working on completion of a degree, or students enrolled in a technical business institute, vocational school or adult/community education program working on completion of a diploma or certificate who are available to work on a part time basis. Employees in this class are placed in various County departments and perform beginning level unskilled or semi-skilled duties, typically clerical in nature, but may vary depending on the department assigned. Students are budgeted to work 20 hours a week except in special circumstances when school is not in session. This applies to college, as well as high school students. Students usually work four (4) hours per day, either mornings or afternoons, during the normal school year and may be retained to work full-time during the summer months. Additionally, you will determine potential risk of harm to and placement of children. You will detain juveniles and assess community safety and release/bond conditions. You will determine the timing of and court expectations for all post judgment reviews. Your role will extend towards establishing the amount of and liability for restitution and payment of services and other fees, costs, fines, assessments, and costs of care. You’ll recommend issuance of apprehension orders and bench warrants and make findings on the parentage of children and establishes that releases or consents for adoption are made in accordance with applicable law. You will research legal matters, assist in drafting procedures and provide advice and expertise to court staff and the bench. You’ll remain on-call after working hours and on weekends on a rotating schedule. Responsible for creation of the court record.
