About us
ENERGY STAR® is a voluntary partnership between the Government of Canada and 1,500+ organizations in the public, private and not-for-profit sectors to promote energy efficiency. For more than 20 years, Natural Resources Canada’s ENERGY STAR program has been Canada’s resource for saving energy and protecting the planet. Behind each blue label is a product, home, building or industrial facility that is certified to use less energy and cause fewer of the emissions that contribute to climate change. Established by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the United States in 1992, Canada joined the ENERGY STAR program as one of a handful of international partners in 2001. ENERGY STAR for New Homes entered the Canadian marketplace in 2005, followed by ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager in 2013 and ENERGY STAR certification for buildings and industrial facilities in 2017.
