Strengthening partnerships, enhancing readiness. Our team, along with other Department of State experts and the I Marine Expeditionary Force (I MEF) provided essential crisis management training for the US Marine Corps on embassy security operations, assistance to U.S. citizens, public messaging and interagency coordination at posts overseas. This training equips all of us to effectively respond to crises and ensure the safety of U.S. diplomats and U.S. citizens anywhere in the world.

This week, Assistant Secretary Smith met with GM Defense President Steve duMont to celebrate the completion of the first-of-its-kind, next generation heavy-duty armored vehicle. This new heavy duty sport utility vehicle has armor built-in on the factory line and features a new design to support increased vehicle weight and performance, giving it better acceleration and handling. These vehicles will be sent to U.S. diplomatic posts around the world starting in 2025.
