October is #NationalDisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth (NDEAM)! Each year, we celebrate the value and talent that workers with disabilities bring to our workplaces and economy. This year’s theme, “Access to Good Jobs for All,” serves as a reminder that inclusion isn’t just a once-a-year focus—it’s a year-round commitment. There are many ways to celebrate #NDEAM: - Train supervisors: Equip them with the tools to create inclusive workplace cultures. - Partner with organizations: Collaborate with groups that champion accessibility and disability employment. - Start an employee resource group: Build a space where employees with disabilities can connect and share. - Explore media: Dive into books, podcasts, or films that shine a light on disability experiences. - Tell your story: Share your journey or uplift someone else’s to inspire change. At the #CTAFoundation, we continue to support technologies that enhance accessibility, empowering people with disabilities to fully engage in the workforce and beyond. Let’s work together to build more inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.

Had a wonderful afternoon attending the Consumer Technology Association Foundation Disability Employment Roundtable discussing workforce #inclusion and #accessibility. MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AMERICA FOUNDATION (MEAF) was proud to sponsor the event along with our host Verzion and The BRUNSWICK FOUNDATION INC as we kickoff National Disability Employment Awareness Month. Thanks to Assistant Secretary Taryn Mackenzie Williams from the Office of Disability Employment Policy for keynoting the event. Followed by a distinguished panel of CTAF and MEAF grant recipients that I was honored to moderate featuring Lindsay Jones with CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology), Jonathan Lucus with NSITE and Jewelyn Cosgrove with Melwood. Thanks to Stephen Ewell at CTAF for organizing a productive discussion. We look forward to continuing the conversation at #CES2025! #NDEAM #DisabilityEmployment

What a pleasure to attend and speak yesterday at the #CTAFoundation's Accessibility Roundtable, held at the Verizon Technology and Policy Center in D.C. We kicked off the beginning of #DisabilityEmploymentMonth and dove into a critical conversation about #accessibility in technology with an esteemed group of activists, industry experts, and government executives. I loved hearing from Assistant Secretary of Labor for Disability Employment Policy Taryn Mackenzie Williams as she discussed this year’s theme, which appropriately emphasizes access to GOOD jobs for all. That’s something that we take very seriously at Melwood. People with disabilities belong in every sector of industry and every segment of an organization. It is the job of each of us to ensure that inclusion is a focus in all we do, from finance to business development to the Board room, and not just in the Human Resources department. I enjoyed sharing the stage with experts like Lindsay Jones from CAST (Center for Applied Special Technology) and Jonathan Lucas from NSITE. Thank you to Kevin Webb from MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AMERICA FOUNDATION for being our moderator and to the Consumer Technology Association Foundation (and of course Stephen Ewell) for hosting an incredible afternoon!

We’re proud to reflect on the success of the #CTAFoundation's Accessibility Roundtable, held yesterday, October 1st, at Verizon’s Technology and Policy Center in Washington, D.C. This event brought together a remarkable group of industry experts, advocates, and policymakers to celebrate the beginning of #DisabilityEmploymentMonth and dive into a critical conversation about #accessibility in technology. The event opened with remarks from Assistant Secretary Taryn Williams of the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Disability Employment Policy, followed by a panel discussion featuring several of our CTA Foundation and MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AMERICA FOUNDATION grant recipients. They shared their incredible work, sparking conversations about how we can keep pushing accessibility forward. The day concluded with a networking reception, offering more time to connect and exchange ideas. A big thank you to our sponsors, Verizon, MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AMERICA FOUNDATION, and Brunswick Corporation, for making this event possible. And, of course, thanks to everyone who joined us—your insights and energy help keep these discussions moving.
