Congratulations to Jacqueline Kreydt, RN, of unit 6W at Wilmington Hospital, for receiving the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses! Colleague Kathleen King, RN, nominated Kreydt for caring for her patients with love and excellence. A patient was hospitalized for rehabilitation at the same time her spouse was admitted to the inpatient hospice unit. Last week was a fantastic display of camaraderie as our team of nurse fellows unwound at Constitution Yards. The Ambulatory and HomeHealth Nursing Professional Development (NPD) team plays a crucial role in enhancing the skills and competencies of nurses and assistive personnel in the community setting. The community setting is diverse and dynamic, requiring this team to be creative and flexible in delivering quality education, competency management, and professional development support. The team’s mission is to empower caregivers by delivering high quality, engaging education, supportive resources, and professional development opportunities, at the appropriate time and place. Collectively, the current team has over 105 years of nursing experience and includes: 2 Ambulatory NPDSs (Elsie Barbosa & Lisa DiLuzio) who provide education and training for more than 550 clinical caregivers including nurses and medical assistants working in 190 practices in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. 2 HomeHealth NPDSs (Amy Hudson & Noelle Johnson) who provide education and training for more than 330 mobile clinical caregivers including skilled nursing, private-duty nursing, home caregivers, and rehab therapists working in patient homes across all 3 counties in Delaware. 1 NPD Manager (Christine Brown) who supports the team and all community settings while guiding the team in alignment with their mission and the goals of the organization. By focusing on these areas, the NPD team helps to ensure that nurses in ambulatory and home care settings are well-equipped to provide high-quality, patient-centered care. #NPDWeek #NursingProfessionalDevelopment #NursingExcellence
