Important NFIP Update for Insurance Agents 🌧️ The NFIP has released several updates that may impact your clients’ flood insurance policies. Here’s a breakdown of the key points, along with what they mean for you as an agent: Claims Process Updates: Streamlined procedures for claims handling will lead to quicker payouts and simplified processes when clients need to file a claim due to flood damage. Extension of Renewal Grace Period: The renewal grace period has been extended, giving clients more time to renew their policies without lapse in coverage. This helps agents ensure continuous coverage for their clients during busy storm seasons. Extension of Underpayment Grace Period: The grace period for addressing underpayments has also been extended. This gives clients extra time to correct any underpayment issues and maintain coverage without interruption. You can read the full article below: https://shorturl.at/rmNyn We’re here to support you and your clients through these changes! 🌧️ What to Do if Your Home Is Actively Flooding 🌧️ We always read about what to do AFTER a flood and how to mitigate further damage to our properties but the truth is, would you know what to do while your home is flooding? When floodwaters rise, every second counts. Here’s what you need to do to stay safe: 1. Stay Safe and Calm – Your safety is priority #1. Stay calm and focused. 2. Turn Off Electricity – If safe, shut off your power at the breaker panel to avoid shocks or fires. 3. Move to Higher Ground – Take your family and pets to the upper levels of your home, and grab essential items. 4. Avoid Flood Waters – Floodwaters are dangerous and can be contaminated. Stay clear! 5. Protect Valuables – If time allows, move important documents and valuables to higher areas. 6. Call for Help – If you’re in danger, call emergency services immediately. 7. Block More Water from Entering – Use towels, sandbags, or plastic sheets to stop water from seeping in. 8. Document the Damage – Safely take pictures or videos of damage for your insurance claim. 9. Follow Evacuation Orders – If instructed, evacuate immediately. Don’t delay! 10. Stay Informed – Keep track of weather alerts for the latest updates. 💧 Be proactive and stay prepared! Knowing what to do during a flood can make all the difference. The truth is that protecting our properties is very important and there is no better way to do that than with a flood policy but the main focus should be the safety of your family…ALWAYS! We are here to help our agents service their clients….Our thoughts are with everyone in the path of Hurricane Milton! #FloodPreparedness #InsuranceProtection #StaySafe #FloodInsurance #DisasterPreparedness #HomeSafety
