On Monday, the US Supreme Court declined to hear any additional appeals related to a $2.7 billion nationwide class action settlement with Blue Cross Blue Shield. This means the Blue Cross Blue Shield MDL settlement is now final and effective. With this decision, Second Blue Bid will become effective in 90 days starting on September 24, 2024. This allows specific, large, self-funded national employers the ability to request a bid for coverage from a second BCBS company in addition to their local BCBS company.
