Please note that the application process for our full-time 1700-hour Fellowship term, scheduled from September 3, 2024, to July 31, 2025, is now closed.
We will continually update the list of available positions and host partner details. All posted positions are actively recruiting.

We may have additional fellowships starting in Spring 2025.

Application Process
Review the list of available positions on the Fellowships page. Click on the “Apply Now” button to submit your contact information, education and experience history, and responses to brief narrative questions. List up to five Fellowships to be considered for.
1. Apply
Applications accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled.
2. Screening Call
An SSC team member will contact you to schedule a 30 minute call if your application meets the requirements. During this call you will discuss your application, career interests, and how the program works.
3. Host Partner Interviews
After the screening call, your application may be forwarded to select host partners. The host partners will reach out to you directly for interviews.
4. Onboarding
If you are chosen by a host partner, you will receive an offer letter from SSC and BACR. You must complete onboarding and background checks before starting.
5. Orientation
SSC program orientation during your first week of service.
Qualifications

AmeriCorps Requirements
-
Be a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*
-
Ability to pass FBI, CA Department of Justice, out-of-state (if applicable), and National Sex Offender Public Registry background checks prior to service

Sustainability Service Corps Requirements
-
At least 18 years of age
-
Test negatively for tuberculosis if working with minors
-
Adhere to COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements determined by host organization
Live in the state of California

Commitment to the full term of service
-
Capability to work in a professional office or field setting
-
Strong verbal and written communication and teamwork skills
-
You may NOT be enrolled in full-time undergraduate courses during the Fellowship

Preferred Qualifications
-
Passion for community-oriented climate change solutions and interest in launching a career in sustainability
-
Experience with, or training in, climate science, sustainability, environmental justice, education, community outreach, and project management
-
Past service experience (e.g., volunteering, community service, etc.)

Associates degree or above AND/OR relevant experience
-
Being local to the community where you will serve
*Currently, we are unable to accept applicants with student visas (such as F1 or F2 student visas, J1 or J2 exchange visitor visas, G series visas, etc.) or those with Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) status.

$2,838.90 monthly living allowance stipend (pre-tax) spread evenly over your program term and distributed every two weeks.

$10,000 Education Award to pay for student loans or additional education (upon completion of the term of service)

Free Healthcare benefit (minimum essential coverage plan including medical, dental, and mental health services)

Forbearance on existing qualifying student loans and payment of interest accrued during service.

Childcare assistance from AmeriCorps paid to an eligible provider of your choice (for those eligible)
